🛑 API THROTTLING & IP BANS (DON'T RESTART IN A TRADE!)
Why am I seeing "API Throttled"?
When the bot is in an active trade, it shifts into High-Frequency Latency Bypass Mode. It aggressively polls the broker every 2.5 seconds to mathematically un-blind the Elastic Profit Guard from WebSocket lag. If you restart the bot while a trade is active, it performs a massive "Startup Sync" (downloading accounts, contracts, orders, and positions) and immediately slams right back into 2.5s High-Frequency Polling.
Doing this multiple times triggers the broker's DDOS & Rate-Limit protection (Cloudflare / the BrokerX WAF). The broker will slap your IP address with a 1-hour to 4-hour API ban (429 Too Many Requests).
How to avoid and fix it:
- NEVER restart the bot constantly while in an active trade. Let the bot do its job.
- If you see terminal warnings saying "API Throttled; returning null to preserve known context", DO NOT PANIC. The bot is successfully blocking its own requests for 15 seconds to dodge a ban. It will heal itself.
- If you are hard-banned (it's been over an hour and the bot still can't connect), you must stop the bot completely (Ctrl+C) and wait 60 minutes for the broker's firewall to clear your IP address before turning it back on.
🛡️ INCIDENT REPORT: Why did my manual trade close instantly?
1. WebSocket Cross-Talk: TopStepX sends data through a "User-Level" connection. Even though your bot is strictly locked to your Practice account, it still "hears" the data streams from your manual trading on the Combine account because both accounts share the same master login.
2. Ghost Sweeper Activation: The bot’s internal ledger says, "I have 0 open positions right now." Suddenly, it hears the broker say, "You just entered a position on MNQ." Because the bot didn't place that trade itself, it instantly assumes it is a rogue "Ghost Order" or a lingering bracket from a previous session that failed to cancel.
3. The Panic Close (Zombie Reaper): To protect your account from naked drawdown exposure, the bot instantly fires a Market Close command to flatten what it believes is a dangerous, orphaned position. The bot essentially "assassinated" your manual Combine trade because it was trying to protect you from a software glitch!
- Open your Dashboard and temporarily toggle OFF the "Naked Runner Guard (Auto-Clean)" and the "Ghost Sweeper".
- Or, temporarily pause the bot's execution entirely if you are taking manual control of the same broker login.
